 Mentions 10 datus of Borneo and lists Datu Lubay.
Story continues and links Lubay as a Muslim.  Tells how the Muslim tribes of Mindanao successfully resisted the Spanish.

"After Islam was established in Sulu, the Muslims moved towards Mindanao (Cotabato) headed by sharief Kabungsuwan.  He landed in Maguindanaw in the year of 1475 and later married Putri Tunina and became the firs sultan and sultana of Maguindanaw.

2.FaceBook conversation with Mama Sarah follwed by google search.   Inquired about the origin of Gucela Clan and where Lola Lubay was from.  Mama Sarah indicated that the all Gucela's originally came from Camotes and spread from there.  (Did they spread before or after WWII?)  She said she follow-up later about Lubay.

  The Gucela's came from the Camotes Island near Cebu. It is believed that the last name started there and when the descendants moved to another islands, that was when it scattered. my grandpa Victor Gucela was born and raised in Camotes Island.

  The Gucela and Gocela are the same. Some people spelled the last different because when they registered their child, the person who took it, spelled whatever they felt like it. The parents just took the last name however it spelled. There are a lot of Gucela's in the same family who spelled their last name either way because of how their name got spelled when they were registered as a baby or small child.

  Tatay was Gocela hen he first started school. His teacher or principal said that the Gocela was spelled wrong and changed it to Gucela. That is how Tatay's last name spelled Gucela. When we were born, we were registered as Gucela in Baybay because that is the spelling they used in Baybay.

  My brother Titing was born in Cebu because my parents had his birth to be scheduled ahead of time, to make sure that he will live, it was through C-Section. When Tatay had him registered in Cebu with the Gucela spelling, the person who took it did not pay attention and spelled it Gocela because that is how they spelled in Cebu. My parents didn't pay attention of it either because unlike here in U.S., I don't think they had their childrens' birth certificate.

  Titing went through his elementary, high school, and college using the Gucela last name. When he was to graduate his bachelor's degree, they were required to get their birth certificate or something like that, to make sure that their birth name and their degree name are exactly the same. That was when Titing found out that his last name was spelled different than ours. When his own children were born, he made sure that their last name are spelled the same as his.

  It's not unusual for the Gucela family in their household to have their names spelled different. I talked to some of the Gucela's I became friends on Facebook, saying that their paternal grandfather joked to them sometimes saying that, "You are not my grandchild because you have different last name than mine."

  I believe that the spelling "Gu" is more correct than the "Go" because of how the last name is pronounced. That was probably why Tatay's teacher or principal changed the spelling of his last name when he was in the elementary school.

Google Search produced Wikipedia for Camotes Island.  Scroll down to History Section; last paragraph places question that Camotes Island could be the same island or Datu Lapu Lapu's famous battle with Magaellan's forces, based on recent archeological findings (I have not yet verified).

An excavation was done at Mactang, Camotes, revealing spears, daggers, swords, crosses, iron pendants and a skull pierced with an arrowhead. The question arose: Could Mactang, Camotes rather than Mactan, Cebu really be the site of the battle between the native army of Lapu Lapu and Ferdinand Magellan's forces where Magellan was killed?

 If this is true, does the Gucela bloodline trace back to pre-colonial ancestors of Camotes Island?  If so, what are the myths, artifacts, and pre-colonial culture?

Visayan is the primary language with English second and also Tagalog, a national language, used. School children are taught all 3. Porohanon or Camotes Visayan is spoken in the town of Poro only. The dialect is very similar to the language spoken in the rest of Camotes Islands and throughout the province of Cebu, Northern Mindanao and other parts of the Visayas. Porohanon is distinguished by the way the locals substitute the /y/ sound for /z/. Example: Maayong buntag (good morning) in Cebuano would be changed to Maazong buntag in Porohanon. Na-a diha (in cebuano), Ara dira ( in porohanon )

2.  Apo Lubay, my great Lola, was from Bohol, and her ancestors were from Indonesia. 
Mama says this is all she knows and expressed displeasure of knowing we were descendants of Indonesians.  Is this due to the fact that many Indonesians are of the Muslim faith or are otherwise non-Christian?
